17 people dies in bus accident in Jumla

At least 17 people were killed and 11 others injured when a bus swerved off the road and fell some 20 meters down at Raralihi VDC in Jumla district on Monday morning, local police confirmed.
The ill-fated bus ( Na 4 Kha 4970) belonging to Karnali Yatayat was heading for Nagam in Kalikot from Jumla, carrying 29 passengers. 
According to police, 13 people died on the spot and two others on their way to hospital. Another two passengers succumbed to their injuries after reaching a hospital. Five of the injured passengers are said to be in critical condition. One of the passengers escaped unhurt.
Police have identified only bus driver Harka Buda and conductor Sagar Buda among the deceased. The identity of other dead passengers are yet to be ascertained.

A team of police under the DSP of Banke Area Traffic Police Office have been deployed to the accident site for rescue operation, said SP Bhoj Jung Sah.

Seven people arrested for stealing 3000 year old statue of Gautam Buddha

Seven people have been arrested at Banke on thursday for possession of 300 year old statue of FGutam Buddha.
Police collected 11.89 gram weighing statue from farmhouse of Guru Lal Chaudhary in Baijapur, Agaiya.

The arrested people are Chetra Bahadur BC, Shiva Singh, Nawaraj Yogi, Padma Chaudhari, Jit Prasad Chaurel, Laxmi Thapa and Bikash Shahi according to DSP Janak Shahi of Area Police Office, Kohalpur.
He also  informed that the accused were staying at Kanchanpur-1, Banke based Rapti Riverside Cottage since January 27 and the incident came into light during an investigation after the police found them involved in suspicious activity.

The accused, in their preliminary statement said that they had bought the statue from Badal Thapa of Dolpa for Rs 800,000.
