At
least 17 people were killed and 11 others injured when a bus swerved off the
road and fell some 20 meters down at Raralihi VDC in Jumla district on Monday
morning, local police confirmed.
The
ill-fated bus ( Na 4 Kha 4970) belonging to Karnali Yatayat was heading for
Nagam in Kalikot from Jumla, carrying 29 passengers.
According
to police, 13 people died on the spot and two others on their way to hospital.
Another two passengers succumbed to their injuries after reaching a hospital.
Five of the injured passengers are said to be in critical condition. One of the
passengers escaped unhurt.
Police
have identified only bus driver Harka Buda and conductor Sagar Buda among the
deceased. The identity of other dead passengers are yet to be ascertained.
A
team of police under the DSP of Banke Area Traffic Police Office have been
deployed to the accident site for rescue operation, said SP Bhoj Jung Sah.
